The much anticipated Digg clone (sort of) from Yahoo, Yahoo Buzz Launched. Yahoo Buzz stories are not submitted by users but they are aggregated from news sources, users can vote on these stories to move them to the front page.
Foe each news story it shows a buzz factor which is determined by various factors like user votes, searches, emails and more.
One more incentive is that the stories with highest buzz stories will be shown on Yahoo front page, i guess this effect will be more than the Digg effect on the servers.
Yahoo Buzz stories are arranged in categories including Entertainment, Sports, World, Video, Featured on Y!, Business, Health, Images, Life Style, Politics, Sci Tech, Travel, US News.
The voting goes same like Digg, you buzz it up to vote and if you don’t like then buzz down. Either way it will take you to story page and displays some related stories below the main story.
Currently only few sources have been added to Buzz, if you want your blog or site to be included you can join the mailing list here to get updates on this.
We have to wait and see whether this will become popular or not, if we take account of Yahoo’s massive user base i expect that it will stay, but you never know. 🙂
