If you download lot of files from the internet and save at different locations and forget about those, you may be adding a lot duplicate files to your system. CloneSpy is a donation ware that helps you to identify duplicate or same name files from your system.
What Clonespy can do?
Can identify duplicates
can indentify duplicated and have the same file name
can identify files having the same file name
can identify files having the same file name and approximately the same size.
Once it identifies any duplicates, you can make them delete or move them to a different folder. Exorting a list of all equal files without removing any files.
What it can’t do ?
It can’t detect when you save a word file two times, same goes for the image files or songs. The explanation for this is pretty clear. “Word stores individual data in every file saved to disk (something like save time or file name), even when it is the “same” document. Therefore, the files are different and won’t be detected as equal by CloneSpy.”
Its a free software and works with Windows 98se/NT/ME/2000/XP, give it a try if you want identify file duplicates or files with same names. The software comes in a zip file, unzip it and use it there is no install.

Can it tell what is inside the file, thus if the content is different. I have 100’s of the same name files within different named folders. I then get confused which are which. Its a real pain to figure out which one is the right one without the last changes. Thanks
