Yahoo unveiled a browser plugin called BrowserPlus that allows developers to add desktop like features to browser. It supports drag and drop feature like a desktop app and allows you to do things like “client_side” image manipulation, like a real photo editor app.
The most unique attribute of BrowserPlus according to Yahoo “is its ability to update and add new services on the fly without a browser restart or reloading the page.”
This is a developer sneak peek so don’t expect it to be released anytime soon. But hey you can test the functionality of BrowserPlus using a demo of Flickr Uploadr. Go to demo and install the plugin, after that you can drag and drop photos from your desktop to your browser. Basic editing of photos can be done, like rotating, cropping and some effects like Greyscale, Sepia and others. You can upload these photos to Flickr by authenticating.
You can find other demos IRC chat and JSON Inspector here
If this becomes fully usable who need all those photo editors for basic editing of photos.
