Flickr, once the beloved photo sharing site is updating its site with some design changes we reported a week back about Flickr’s facelift. Flickr promised some big changes last month and also said that certain features will be removed that are not core to Flickr. One of the big change is getting rid of Google owned Picnik, Flickr assures that it doesn’t mean editing capabilities of the site are effected, possibly a new editor will take its place.
Starting today one of this change is showing up, The “Justified View”, as it is called will make the photos occupy the screen real estate completely without any white space. This Justified View ensures that your photo aspect ratio is kept intact and will never crop the photos. You can see this Justified View in your contacts page. The previous layout choices are still available, with the new view now it is possible to see larger and more images per page.
With the new design Flickr added quick links to favorite and comments to photos, hovering over the photo will reveal these shortcuts. You can fav any photo directly in this view, clicking on comment will take you to the photo page for commenting.
The changes are being rolled out slowly, so check back your contacts page soon if you don’t see the changes today. The Justified View will appear on other pages of Flickr soon along with many changes. Finally we can assure that Flickr is not dying a slow death, and people are working to make it better for users.
