Nokia partnered with Microsoft already launched smartphones with Windows 8 operating system in the form of Nokia Lumia series. Nokia is looking to expand this partnership with the launch of Windows 8 tablets in the near future.
Digitimes, a Taiwanese site reports that Nokia will launch Windows 8 tablets running Windows 8 ARM, and the tablets will hit the markets in the fourth quarter of this year. This is inline with the launch of Windows 8 stable version from Microsoft.
The Nokia tablets are supposed to be 10 inch tablets with Qualcomm chips inside, possibly the Snapdragon S4. Nokia will outsource the manufacturing to the Asian company Compal Electronics and it’s aiming for 200,000 tablets for initial shipments if the rumors are to be believed.
The Partnership will benefit both Microsoft and Nokia. Nokia’s Windows 8 tablet devices certainly help Microsoft to gain market share among the tablets market now dominated by Android and Apple’s iOS.
