Sony has officially launched its Xperia series of handsets in India, Xperia U, Xperia P and Xperia Sola cater to different consumers with a range of features that are specific to the handsets. All these handsets are running Android 2.3 Gingerbread but upgradable to the latest Android 4.0, that is Ice Cream Sandwich.
Sony Xperia U boasts a 3.5 inch scratch-resistant TFT screen with 854 x 480 pixels. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM and has an internal memory of 8GB. It has a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash. It is priced at Rs 17399.
Xperia P comes with 4-inch TFT touchscreen with 960 x 540 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and has an internal memory of 16GB. Other specs include 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, xLOUD audio filter technology among others. It is priced at Rs 26799.
Xperia Sola comes with 3.7 inch TFT screen with 854 x 480 pixels resolution. It is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and has an internal memory of 8GB expandable upto 32GB using a microSD card. This is the only phone in this lot that supports microSD card for memory expansion. Other specs include xLOUD audio technology, 5megapixel camera and supports NFC. This is the first handset that comes with “Floating Touch technology”. It is priced at Rs 20449.
Sony is betting big on these smartphones as it will phase out the feature phones business in India by September.
