With the release preview and just four months to go for the final release of the Windows 8 OS, the rush of Windows 8 tablets has begun with Acer. Acer has unveiled a pair of Windows 8 tablets along with ultrabooks at Computex, Taipei. Apart from Acer other manufacturers are also expected to announce Windows 8 tablets at Computex in the next few days.
The tablets unveiled today are Iconia W510 and Iconia W700, both the tablets run on next generation Windows OS Windows 8.
Iconia W510
Acer didn’t disclose all the specs of W510, but what we know now is that it has a 10.1 inch IPS touch display with 1280 x 800 resolution. Acer says this convertible tablet offers three different modes of operation, so users can “touch, type and view”. The tablet offers a desktop kind of mode with a detachable keyboard dock. The Keyboard dock will be useful for fast typing and it also gives the tablet 18 hours of battery life. Rotating the tablet 295 degrees allows it to be used in presentation mode, good for presentations, watching videos etc.
Ionia W700
The W700 has 11.6 inch Full HD touchscreen display with Dolby Home Theater for multimedia content. Acer dubs it a optimum-performance Windows 8 tablet for productivity. For connectivity it will have a miniHDMI port, three USB 3.0, a Thunderbolt port. Other specs are not yet known for this tablet. It will cone with a multipurpose cradle that allows several viewing options for users. “When using it in landscape, it can be tilted up to 70 degrees for better viewing, or 20 degrees for convenient touch. Furthermore, it can be used vertically like a portrait for easy browsing and reading.”
