Yahoo is rolling out a new home page starting today with new features. Marissa Mayer on Yahoo blog note the more modern Yahoo home page to add to the user experience. The new home page is designed to be more personal and intuitive with customization options to personalize the home page.
The new page introduces stream of news feed with infinite scroll, users can customize the news feed. You can add feed of your interest to the scroll, for example you can replace Sports feed with Technology. If you don’t like an article you can click “X” mark to remove it, you can also select to show less articles from that topic.
The home page now integrates Facebook recommendations, If you login with your Facebook account you can see the news article recommendations from your social circle. It also your Facebook calendar birthdays, Flickr photos from your groups etc. The home page is customizable meaning some sections which you don’t like can be removed with a mouse click.
The same home page also works on smartphone and tablets. According to Yahoo it is faster now due to some under-the-hood improvements.
Overall the home page looks fresh with lots of content, but users might not be pleased to see the changes to their Yahoo home page quite often. The new design will be live from now for United States users, but not sure for the rest of the world though. This is not the final design I guess, because Yahoo says they will make changes and improvements in the coming months.
