Microsoft and Best Buy entered into a strategic partnership to setup Windows Stores inside Best Buy across US and Canada. The stores will feature full range of Windows devices starting with laptops, desktops, tablets, smartphones, Xbox etc. According to Microsoft the new Windows Stores will come in 500 Best Buy stores in US and 100 Best Buy or Future stores in Canada.
Although the name suggests Windows Stores, here all types of Microsoft products can be found including Microsoft Office and Xbox. The stores range from 1,500 to 2,200 square feet and will function as a premier destination for consumers according to Microsoft. Microsoft will also have trained staff at the store locations to assist the consumer, it will add 1,200 more trained associates at these new locations.
“The Windows Store offers a large-scale, hands-on customer experience that will show customers how Windows and Microsoft devices and services can make it easier for them to work and play,” said Tami Reller, chief marketing officer and chief financial officer of the Windows Division at Microsoft. “We’re pleased to partner with Best Buy in bringing the latest technologies to consumers at scale in a unique environment where they can explore how Microsoft products fit together across entertainment, travel, music and other scenarios.”
Best Buy already had Apple stores and Apple mini stores from quite some time, now it will have Windows Stores also along with its chief rival. Microsoft is hoping that these Windows Stores at Best Buy locations will help boosting sales of Windows devices. Atleast these Windows stores attract who are curious to see what is in there.
