Microsoft has announced it’s next version of productivity suite Microsoft Office 2013, code named Microsoft Office 15. Microsoft Office 2013 Consumer Preview is released for public to get their hands on with the software.
Microsoft touts that this version of the software works with touch, stylus, mouse or keyboard across devices including tablets. Office 2013 will be available as a cloud service as well as a desktop version, and it is optimized to run on tablets like recently announced Surface including Windows 8 RT versions.
Office 2013 is heavily optimized to work with Windows 8 touch devices with Metro interface thrown in. You can swipe your finger across the screen or pinch and zoon to read your documents. You can also use stylus to create content and hand written emails are also possible with this version.
Office in the cloud saves your documents to cloud so you will have access to them from all your devices, including phone, PC and tablet. It also comes with social features like Yammer integration for business customers, Skype integration with 60 minutes of Skype World every month and 20GB of SkyDrive storage.
Office 2013 comes in three flavors, targeted towards home consumers, small businesses, and enterprise customers as Office 365 Home Premium, Office 365 Small Business Premium and Office 365 ProPlus.
Office 2013 will be available for both Windows 7 and Windows 8. You can download Office 2013 Consumer Preview from office.com/preview. Click on the green sign-up button and proceed to download to test the Office for yourself.
