BlackBerry Z10 is launched in India as expected, and is priced at Rs.43,490. BlackBerry is going for the premium range and will compete with the iPhone 5, HTC Butterfly, Sony Xperia Z, Nokia Lumia 920 and Samsung Galaxy phones.
BB Z10 is the first phone in India with BlackBerry 10 OS. It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory with a microSD slot for expanding the memory to 64GB. It comes with a 8 megapixel camera at the rear and a 2MP camera at the front. Other specifications include 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, microUSB etc.
Z10 will be available in black and white color options, it has a 1800mAh battery. It runs on the latest BlackBerry 10 operating system. It will be available in retail stores through out the country in two days, consumers can also get it via online retailers.
With BlackBerry 10, we have re-designed, re-engineered and re-invented BlackBerry to create a new and unique mobile computing experience, and we are uniquely positioned to change the way in which our customers view mobile technology. With BlackBerry 10, every feature, every gesture, and every detail is designed to keep you moving,” said Sunil Dutt, Managing Director for India at BlackBerry.
The pricing of the Z10 is a premium and when you look at the specs and the competition it is far behind the competition. At 30,000-36000 range there are several feature rich Android smartphones and Windows Phone 8 Lumia 920. Unless you are a die-hard BlackBerry fan or want something different from the pack there are actually better phones at that price (Apple iPhone 5) or for a bit less.
