CES or the Consumer Electronics Show is one of the biggest tech events in the world. CES 2013 took place in Las Vegas and ended on the 11th of January. People saw some impressive products and prototypes from 4K TVs to brilliant smartphones. We will only be focusing on the smartphones part and there were quite a lot of smartphones which were announced in Las Vegas. Here are the smartphones which stole the show at CES 2013.
Sony Xperia Z/ZL
Sony usually unveils its devices at the CES event and it came out with 2 brilliant smartphones, the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL. Xperia Z is, simply, a stunning smartphone with a gorgeous design. It features a Quad-Core 1.5 Ghz Qualcomm processor and comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Screen size is 5.0 inches and the smartphone features a full HD 1080p display with Bravia Engine 2.
The new 13.1 mega-pixel shooter features a new HDR Camera and Video Recorder for the best picture quality even in low light. With these impressive features and a brilliant design, the Xperia Z is also water and dust resistant. While the Xperia ZL has all these features, it is not water and dust resistant. If looking at smartphones, Sony definitely stole the show and this might be the start of Sony getting back on the right track after a poor performance in the market.
Huawei Ascend Mate
Huawei also made a surprise entry with its giant 6.1 inch phablet, the Ascend Mate. Note 2 was already too big at 5.5 inches but Huawei took it to the next level with its latest phablet. The Ascend Mate features a Quad-Core 1.5 Ghz processor along with 2GB of RAM. Even though the resolution is only 720p with a low pixel density, the screen is very crisp and sharp. The Ascend mate will also be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and features an 8 mega-pixel camera.
CES 2013 did see several other Android smartphones including ZTE’s Grand S and Lenovo’s K900 but Huawei and Sony stole the show with their unique Android devices.
