Display: Both these phones offer a large screen with Full HD resolution. Gionee Elife E7 offers 5.5-inch display which may not fit into everyone’s preferences but nevertheless this is not too uncomfortable we guess. Nexus 5 on the other hand comes with a 4.95-inch screen real estate, which we think is perfect balance being large and also comfortable to operate with one hand. Both display are full HD screen and offers Gorilla Glass protection. Nexus 5 pixel density is at 445ppi, while the E7 stands at 401, the difference in real world may not be noticeable.
Processor: Both these phones use the same processor from Qualcomm, that is Quad-core Snapdragon 800 SoC with Adreno 330GPU. Currently this is the popular and best CPU in the market. What ever phone you buy it runs on the same processor, but there is s difference in clock speed. Elife E7 comes as two variants, one with 2.2GHz clock speed and another at 2.5GHz. Nexus 5 processor is clocked at 2.3GHz.
Memory: Here Gionee scores some brownie points, it users two configurations for memory, one with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and another with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Nexus 5 comes with 2GB RAM and either 16/ 32GB storage.
Software: Nexus 5 gets the latest Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, it gives stock Android experience, it is also better integrated with Google Now if you care that feature. Gionee Elife E7 comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean skinned with Amigo UI. Nexus 5 will get Android updates as soon as Google releases a new Android version. With the latest Android 4.4.2 updates Google shows that they push updates as fast as they can when it is necessary. Gionee might push the updates but not at the pace of Google.
Battery: Gionee Elife E7 gets the bigger battery here, it packs 2500 mAh battery under the hood. Nexus 5 packs 2300 mAh battery under the hood. Given the slightly large size of Gionee Elife E7 screen the higher specced battery is needed.
Camera: Gionee Elife E7 wins in terms of Camera sensor, it gets a 16MP rear camera and a 8MP front facing camera. In comparison Nexus 5 comes with an 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera. For Nexus 5 its camera is its weak point, already enough has been written about this camera. Google though issued a fix for the Nexus 5 camera, it is not its strong point.
Conclusion: Both Gionee Elife E7 and Google Nexus 5 offer good hardware at reasonable price point. They are not as expensive as some of their competitors. Gionee has sensibly priced the Elife E7 on par or slightly less than Nexus 5.
It is difficult to choose a winner here, If you are don’t mind Gionee brand phone and you want best camera go for Elife E7. With this phone you will get good hardware at reasonable price. If you go with Nexus 5 you will get stock Android experience, timely software updates and again good hardware at good price, of course an average camera.
