Google today announced Google Web Elements at it’s Google I/O conference. Google Web Elements lets you easily embed content from Google sites like Youtube videos. Currently you can embed Calendar, Conversation, Custom Search, Maps, News, Presentations, Spreadsheets and Youtube news.
Web Elements appears to be a new layer on top of Google Ajax APIs , Ajax APIs are available for developers from long but the web elements makes it easier for novice web publishers to easily embed content by copy pasting a snippet of code.
Select a widget you want to include and set one or two options like size, type of content for news etc and you will get the code which you can embed in your web pages. For example see the Google news widget i have included in this post. News widget currently available in only two sizes, 300×250 and 728×90, but you can change the width and height in the code.
Web search widget is also is very useful, you can paste the code on any webpage, by default it will search the site in which you pasted the code. If you are Adsense publisher you can include your Adsense Publisher ID to earn ad revenue from the Google Ajax search widget. See the below embedded Google Search widget for example.
Using the “Conversation Element†users can leave the comments in the widget using their Google account. The conversation element has inbuilt translation to translate on the same page.
