Facebook for Android is one of the most downloaded and used apps on the Android operating system. It is a must have for most Android users as they can access their Facebook account without using the heavy browser site. The app, previously, was based on html5 and users often faced lags and a very slow speed. Liking pictures and browsing through the news feed has always been slow on the Facebook app. Facebook has now been updated for Android and is the biggest update to Facebook yet. Facebook recently revealed that it had made a mistake with the Android app as it was based on html5 and not Android’s native code. The latest update is a lot faster and better as it is based on the Android platform.
The new update is very much similar to the iOS version of the app and is twice as fast, smooth and better looking as the previous version of the app. You will notice a significant improvement in not only the speed of the app but also connection speed as news feed and photos will now load faster.
Notifications and Timeline viewing is also faster and you won’t get any sort of delays. Also, scrolling has been improved for better news feed viewing. The update came on iOS some time back and users were quite impressed with the change to native platform coding.
With the new Facebook app, photos load a lot quicker as these are loaded from Android’s memory rather than Java. The old black and white background with the spinning wheel is also gone when loading photos and everything works really well. A new stories bar is also implemented for avoiding constant refreshes within the app.
Facebook 2.0 definitely brings major improvements to the app in terms of performance, speed and usability. You can get the latest version here or can update the app using Google Play on your Android device.
