Flickr is continuing its efforts to give it a makeover and win back the users. Once a popular destination for photo enthusiasts Flickr is now struggling to keep users on the site. Recently Flickr introduced justified view for friends photos and favorites pages. Today they rolled out the same feature to Flickr groups.
Flickr groups are very popular for destinations Flickr users and they are still active, with the new Justified View groups users can see photos in their aspect ratio with out cropping them. The previous thumbnail view is ugly to say the least, the new justified view is much better and visually pleasing.
There is a new sidebar that is added to the justified view pages in groups, the sidebar will give quick access to recent discussions from the group, tags and top contributors to aid in navigate through the group. There is a blurb of information about groups context at the top of the sidebar.
Now users can upload directly to the group with the new Flickr Uploadr, when using the uploadr you just have to hit add to group and they will be sent to the group and also published to your photo stream.
This update also brings new API methods to Flickr groups. For more information on these API methods refer to the documentation.
Flickr is adding new features, but it is adding at a slow pace. Are these slow and minor updates are enough to keep users happy, we have to wait and see.
