There are more feature phones than the smartphones in the world, and releasing apps targeting these feature phones will immediately bump your user numbers to new highs. That is what Foursquare might be thinking, as it released a Foursquare app for S40 feature phones and for Asha Phones. Nokia is struggling now in the smartphone race but its S40 user base is huge, and with the recent Asha phone it is trying to keep those users with it.
Foursquare said in a blog post that there are hundreds of millions of Nokia S40 users around the world, and now they will have the Foursquare experience on their phones. Soon it will also be pre-loaded on upcoming Asha devices. Nokia is pushing Asha devices a lot, recently it released the Nokia Asha 501 with new Asha platform and in the future several Asha devices will hit the market to cater to the low end market.
