Futz.me is a simple tool that lets you email notes, pictures, links, files to yourself for later viewing, in a command line fashion. The best part about Futz is its simplicity. Once you signup, there is no more logging in or messing with anything required later.
Once the 30-second signup is done, you’ll be given a personalized url, like futz.me/username.
The procedure is simple. Anytime you find yourself wanting to send yourself a note, link or reminder, just append it to your provided url. There are several things that you can do with this command line, like:
- Sending a note:
futz.me/username Get bread and eggs
- Sending a link:
futz.me/username http://example.com
- Link with text:
futz.me/username http://example.com is cool
- A Photo on the web:
futz.me/username http://example.com/image.jpg
- A local file:
futz.me/username file:
(A page will open, where you can upload the file) - Tweet:
futz.me/username/t I’m tweeting!
(Uses oAuth)
All the notes, links, photos etc will be emailed to you instantaneously. Moreover, the photos you send for the web will be linked as well as attached in the email.
Futz can also send you all this stuff through sms, provided you live in the US. If you do, a lot of carriers are supported and you can check if yours work when you sign up.
As Jason from Lifehacker points out, Futz has its advantage when it comes to sending stuff speedily but it also becomes a concerning if your Futz url leaks, as then, sending stuff to your email would then become effortless for anybody, as it won’t require any verification. So remember to keep your url to yourself or within trusted people.
Check out Futz.me and let us know what you think of it!
