Samsung has released a stripped down version of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Android phone, named Galaxy Grand Quattro. It is available online for buy from Samsung e-store for Rs. 16,900. This is also a dual-SIM phone like its parent but differs in some specifications like CPU, screen size etc., but there are not many difference between the two. Looks like Samsung is feeling he heat from mobile phones like Micromax Canvas HD and Karbonn S5 Titanium which offer better value for money products, that might be one of the reason for the launch of this stripped down version with lower price tag.
Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro is powered by a 1.2GHz Quad-Core Processor unlike the 1.2Ghz dual-core processor found in the Galaxy Grand. The screen size is reduced from 5-inches to 4.7inches which gives more pixels per inch making the screen look better. The screen has the same WVGA (480 x 800) pixels resolution. The cameras also changed in this, it comes with a 5.0MP rear shooter and a VGA camera on the front, while Galaxy Grand has an 8MP shooter on the rear and a 2MP camera on the front. Other specifications remain same, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory etc., the Quattro carries a 2000mAh battery, Grand has 2100 mAh battery.
Will this stripped down version of galaxy Grand is enough to compete with the likes of Micromax and Karbonn tablets is remained to be seen.
