Samsung is planning to release the next flagship phone Galaxy S5 by April. Samsung’s Lee Young Hee told Bloomberg in an interview. Samsung might release the phone at the same time it usually released previous S model that is March and April. In the Interview Lee said that along with the Galaxy S5 they will release an improved Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Galaxy Gear is expected with more advanced functions according to Lee and you can also expect Galaxy Gear to be slimmer than the current model.
Galaxy S5 will have a new design this time unlike the Galaxy S4 which looked similar to the Galaxy S3. Samsung acknowledges the Galaxy S4 design was not received well because of similar look to the outgoing model. This time they are coming with a new design for the Galaxy S5. The new Galaxy S5 might also include the Iris-scanning technology, it is not concrete but Samsung is studying the possibility of including it in the Galaxy S5.
“When we moved to S4 from S3, it’s partly true that consumers couldn’t really feel much difference between the two products from the physical perspective, so the market reaction wasn’t as big,” Lee said. “For the S5, we will go back to the basics. Mostly, it’s about the display and the feel of the cover.”
Another revelation in the interview is that Samsung is using some kind of three-sided display in its next version of the Galaxy Note, which allows users to see messages from an angle, it is not clear how that display looks like as of now.
