If you want to get a makeover for your Windows but don’t want to upgrade to the Windows 8 consumer preview, you can use the Windows 8 transformation pack. It will make Windows Xp/Vista/7 UI look like Windows 8. If you are on Windows 7 you can use the Windows 8 UX pack 4.0 instead. Both these packs will give you Windows 8 look to your old windows OS.
The developer of the apps say both the packs have been unified to have the same version numbers to avoid confusion. To make it clear the UX pack won’t modify any system files and works similar to the transformation pack and can be installed only on Windows 7. Windows 8 transformation pack is more reliable with improvements and user feedback.
The new versions bring number of changes along with bug fixes. To mimic the look of Windows 8 Segoe UI font has been included and all the wallpapers, pictures of guest and users from Windows consumer preview have been included. Charms bar has been added as an alternative for those who can’t get full immersive UI to work.
Not: Install only if you know what you are doing, as some of these transformation packs will affect system performance and might be difficult to uninstall completely.
