Google+ App has received some updates and new features including SMS integration, Google announced at an event called “A Morning with Google+”. The updates include location sharing SMS, Animated GIFs, schedule Hangouts on Air, a full screen video calling experience. The biggest of all is the most anticipated feature SMS integration, users thought that this feature will come with Android 4.4 Kitkat.
With the location sharing feature users can now send a map of their current location to their contacts just by taping the places icon in the app. With the SMS integration you don’t need to use two different apps for messages and SMS, you can receive SMS in your Hangouts app if you wish so.
You can now schedule Hangouts On Air and promote the same with a dedicated page, this is good for the marketers and others who use Hangouts a lot. The Control Room feature allows you moderate the Hangouts conversation with eject and remote mute.
The video calling feature is also vastly improved, it is now full screen across mobile and desktop. The new lighting fixes added will fix and enhance the lighting when using webcam. You can also Animated GIF images inline with the updated interface.
The Android app with updated features will be rolled out in few days, while the On Air improvements will roll out in the next few weeks according to Google.
