Google launched the Chromebook Pixel that is rumored from quite some time. Many of us were skeptical about the Pixel but Google officially announced with a surprisingly high price tag for a Chromebook. Google is taking pre-orders for Pixel in US and UK, shipping will start from 1st April. The Chromebook Pixel Wi-Fi only version costs $1,299 and the LTE version costs $1,449.
Google Chromebooks are cheap earlier, the cheapest was about $249, but those are not high-end laptops. What was released today was a high-end laptop with anodized aluminum design with 12.85 inch display at 2560 x 1700, at 239 pixel per inch, that is similar to Apple Retina display. But still Chromebook Pixel is still a browser based OS and can not run native apps. Google says that this is good for the power Cloud user, keeping that in mind Google is giving 1TB of Google Drive space free for 3 years. The internal storage in pixel is 32GB SSD or 64GB SSD. Google is hoping that these high-end Chromebooks have customers and we will know in the coming months whether market for this kind of device exists are not. You can get a full featured premium PC or a Mac Book at that price which can still run native apps.
Chromebook Pixel is Powered by a 1.8GHz Core i5 Processor, with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The notable feature is the screen, Gorilla Glass multi touch screen at 2560 x 1700 with 239PPi resolution. There are two variants of Pixel one with Wi-Fi only version that costs $1299 and the other with 64GB of storage and LTE+GPS modem that costs $1449.
