Google Nexus devices offer good hardware at a reasonable price point and Google is continuing to offer these devices as launch devices when a new Android version is released. According to a report on Digitimes Google could release Nexus 6 tablet in this year. The report claims that the Google Nexus 8 tablet will have Intel Bat Trail-T processor inside.
Citing supply chain sources Digitimes adds that Intel processor may be chosen in place of Qualcomm chipset, Google’s earlier Nexus devices used Qualcomm chips. Qualcomm is not dropped completely, it might also have a chance.
Google is considering the Nexus 8 because of the disappointing sales for its Nexus 7 tablet released last July, due to the fact that competitors offerings in the 7-inch tablet market are cheaper, the report adds. The report also states that Asus may be developing the tablet again, the previous Nexus 7 tablet is manufactured by Asus and the relationship will continue for this tablet also according to the report.
Digitimes publishes these kind of rumors citing upstream supply chain sources, most of the time these rumors are hit or miss, so take them with a pinch of salt.
