Google Play editions (GPe) of HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 are receiving Android 4.3 OTA (over-the-air) update as per reports. HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google play editions were released some time back and they come with OEM and that made some users kept wondering whether these devices will get the timely updates from Google like the Nexus devices. Google had promised that these devices will also get Android updates rather quickly.
Android 4.3 update for Nexus devices started last week after the announcement of Android 4.3 and new Nexus 7. The latest update to GPe of HTC One and Galaxy S4 is over-the-air, the One update is 180 MB in size and and SGS4 update is 150 MB in size, build number is JWR66V. The update is immediately after HTC and Samsung posted their Android 4.3 Kernels online.
The update seem to include increased icon sizes and widget panels, support for Bluetooth Low energy, OpenGL ES 3.0 support for better gaming experiences and support for IR Blaster.
The update includes confidence among users who buy Google Play editions of popular devices. Moto X is also expected to come up with stock Android as a Google Play edition.
