Apple has introduced 3D touch with its iPhone 6S launch last year, although Apple is not the first company to adopt this tech. The 3D touch technology as Apple calls allows users to perform more actions by varying the pressure on the screen while pressing, a more fitting name for this tech should be pressure sensitive touch technology.
This technology will come to Android phones sooner than later with the next Google Nexus phone supporting the same according to reports. HTC is in line to make the next Google Nexus device. Last year two Google Nexus devices were launched one made by LG, the Nexus 5X and the other made by Huawei, the Nexus 6P. According to CNet LG is taking a break from Nexus lineup to work on its own brand. LG has made Nexus 5 and Nexus 5X smartphones and both are good phones in their own way and users are expecting a successor for these phones, but it seems LG has other plans. It wants to put more resources into making its modular LG G5 smartphone a success.
Chinese site GizmoChina reports that many phone manufacturers are looking at this force touch tech to introduce on their phone displays. It reports, citing unnamed sources that HTC will make the Nexus 2016 device with pressure sensitive display tech inside. It also reports that Google is also planning to incorporate this tech as a standard on Android.
HTC is not the only manufacturer that is working on this tech, other vendors like Xiaomi, Oppo, ZTE, Huawei, Meizu and Vivo are also looking to incorporate this tech. Huawei Mate S, ZTE Axon Mini are some of the first phones on the market using pressure sensitive touch displays. The report also says that the tech was not fully utilized due to lack of support from apps that support pressure sensitive display, with Google making it standard on Android it is not too far that we see this tech introduced in the next wave of Android smartphones.
