Intex announced few days back that they are launching a smartphone with MediaTek’s latest MT6592 Octa-Core processor. Intex unveiled the smartphone prototype yesterday, Intex is the first Indian manufacturer to announce smartphone with an octa-core processor inside. MediaTek launched the True Octa Core MT6592 Processor yesterday.
Intex smartphone will feature a 6-inch HD IPS touch screen. It will be powered by an Octa Core MediaTek MT6592 Processor clocked at 1.7GHz. The MT6592 can be clocked upto 2GHz according to MediaTek. The smartphone will just a thin profile at just 7mm in thickness. It will run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It packs either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. The photos reveal that it comes with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and probably a 5MP camera on the front.
Commenting on the exclusive preview, Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Business Head- Mobile, Intex Technologies said, “We are confident that our innovation on MediaTek Octa-core chipset will immensely benefit our customers by enabling them with quick multitasking and seamless user performance. Intex is all set to transform the Indian smartphone market with latest technology at an affordable price point.”
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Finbarr Moynihan, General Manager, International Sales and Marketing, MediaTek Incsaid “Building on the success of existing MediaTek quad-core mobile platforms, the MT6592 combines an advanced eight-core application processor with industry-leading multimedia capabilities and market-proven mobile connectivity for a perfect balance of performance and power consumption. Unlike existing octa-core solutions in the market, which can only activate half of their CPU cores at once, MediaTek True Octa-Core allows for all eight of its cores to run simultaneously. Each of the eight CPU cores is capable of clock speeds up to 2GHz, designed to offer superior multi-tasking and excellent performance-per-watt for higher-end smartphones & tablets.
Other specifications of the smartphone are not yet released. It is expected to come early January 2014 with a price tag of Rs. 20,000 according to Intex Mobiles.
