Karbonn has launched two new smartphones with octa-core processor inside. The devices named as Titanium Octane and Titanium Octane Plus join other handsets in India running octa-core processor. Karbonn Octane is priced at Rs 14,490 and the Octane Plus is priced at Rs 17,990, although both the devices share similar specifications there are some differences to justify the price difference. Both these devices run on the MediaTek MT6592 SoC clocked at 1.7GHz.
Karbonn Octane is the cheaper variant among the two and comes with a 5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. It is powered by the MediaTek 1.7GHz Octa-core MT6592 processor along with 1GB of RAM. Internal storage is pegged at 16GB which can be expanded to 32GB using a micro SD card. In the camera department it includes a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera. Usual connectivity options including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, micro USB, 3G, GPS etc. Karbonn has included a 2000mAh battery under the hood which might not last for long with 5-inch screen and octa-core processor inside.
Karbonn Octane Plus comes with a 5-inch IPS display with full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. It is powered by the same MediaTek 1.7GHz octa-core processor along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Internal storage can be expanded to 32GB using a micro SD card. It comes with a 16MP camera with auto focus and LED flash at the rear and a 8MP camera at the front, which is an upgrade compared to the Octane. Sadly Karbonn has retained the same 2000mAh battery in this phone, with the FHD screen and octa-core processor inside battery is going to be the biggest drawback for this phone.
Both these phones run on latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. Karbonn Octane is priced at Rs 14,490 and Octane Plus is priced at Rs 17,990. Both these phones will be available from next month onwards in stores. Karbonn Octane Plus will compete with the recently launched Micromax Canvas Knight which is retailing at Rs 19,999 in India.
