LG announced that its L Series II smartphones will get “Knock” feature in 2014. LG first introduced this feature with LG G2 and called KnockON, later the name changed to Knock. Knock feature will allow users to double tap the phone to wake it up. The rollout will begin in January 2014 through a maintenance release upgrade starting with the L Series II smartphones.
LG G2 with its power button at the back got this feature as a way to wake the screen with ease, later it was pushed to LG G Pad 8.3 and it is also introduced in the LG G Flex curved smartphone. LG says the feature is liked by many of its customers and so they are bringing this feature to other smartphones in its portfolio.
“Knock is distinctively an LG UX and a great example of what happens when you marry the latest in mobile technology with consumer-centric insights,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics’ Mobile Communications Company, “No one ever thought that a power button needed to be improved until our engineers wondered why they couldn’t turn the entire screen into a power button.”
