Microsoft’s Office app for Android is finally here, but the catch is that currently it is only available for Android smartphones, table users have to wait a little longer for the app. Like the iOS counterpart released last month the app is free for those who have an active Office 365 subscription. For the rest of us there are other options in the Google Play Store with out many restrictions.
Dubbed as “Office Mobile for Office 365” needs an active Office 365 subscription, there is no other free app from Microsoft for accessing Office on Android. The app allows you to access, view and edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents anywhere. The documents will look like originals according to Microsoft with support for charts, animations, SmartArt graphics and shapes.
The documents you view or edit are stored in the cloud through SkyDrive cloud access. You can also access documents stored in SkyDrive Pro and SharePoint. You can access the recent documents you accessed on your computer from your mobile phone using Office Mobile. You can make quick edits to the documents on your phone and share them with through SkyDrive or SharePoint. You can create documents from your phone. Office Mobile application will preserve the original formatting when you edit documents on your phone.
