Microsoft’s Live Labs Photosynth allows users to create 3D model of photos form a set of photos taken with a digital camera. You need to take several photos of place in different angles with ideally same camera settings for a perfect Photosynth project. The software processes these photos to identify interesting points overlapping in these photos to generate a panorama model of the place, by stitching them together.
Photosynth application is available on iOS platform, and Microsoft has released an app for Windows Phone now. Photosynth app is still missing from Android platform though. We don’t know why it took so long for Microsoft to release their own app to Windows Phone, The Verge says this is due to the Camera API issues with Windows Phone 7. Photosynth app is now available for Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and up.
The application allows users to create Panorama application using their Windows Phones and share them on Facebook, Twitter or publish in Bing through Photosynth.net service.
