Moto G is expected to come to US in January, but surprisingly Motorola has started selling the phone early ahead of the schedule. According to reports the early sale in US is due to the fact that Motorola is able to ramp up production of the phone. Motorola announced the news on its Twitter account, the Moto G can be bought from the Motorola website now.
Moto G is offered in two variants, 8GB model and 16GB model. 8GB model costs $179 and 16GB model costs $199 with out contract and unlocked. According to the Motorola website the shipments will begin starting December 2nd. The decision to release the phone early in US seems to be influenced by the holiday season.
The Moto G currently on sale is only the GSM model, CDMA models are not yet released, they are expected to come early next year on Verizon. The current model is available as US only GSM model or Global GSM model. You can select what model you want during the buying process. The Global GSM model works outside US also, if you want to take your phone outside US then this is ideal. The US only GSM works only US GSM networks, might work on other networks if the network frequency matches.
Moto G is now shipping with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean inside, Motorola will release Android 4.4 KitKat in January. In India Moto G is expected to launch in January running Android 4.4 Kitkat out of the box.
