Motorola’s Moto X will be released soon and Motorola started an ad campaign yesterday that highlights that the phone will be made in USA and users will be able to customize it. The ad shows a tag line “Designed by you. Assembled in USA”. So everyone wondered what level of customizations does it allow, today ABC News reports the customizations include color choices on the back panel and trim of the phone. Users can select different colors for the back cover and trim of the phone. Users will be able to select colors and other customizations through a web page and then it will be delivered with those choices.
Other customizations include ability to upload a photo on the website and that will be delivered as a background of the phone. Moto X also allows engravings on the back cover, something like the Apple iPod, which pioneered this approach when ordered through Apple website. The customizations appears to be all cosmetic ones so far. Since it is assembled in USA users will get their order delivered with in a few days.
The phone is reportedly running Android 4.2.2 and is I testing with carriers including Verizon. Users can order the phone through a web page and also they can buy standard versions of the phone from carriers and stores. The report also mentions that the phone will come in different storage options.
A French site Nowhereelse.fr posted pictures of purported back shells of the Moto X, in the leaked photo we can see green, red and purple colors, according to the site Motorola will offer at least 16 different colors. The range of colors include blue, green, purple, red and pink among others. Motorola recently redesigned their logo, the redesign includes a colors ring around the M letter, and colors in the ring might indicate what kind of colors you can expect as back shells.
