Sony, yesterday, released its PlayStation mobile app and it is now available on the official website. Basically, the PlayStation mobile app for android tries to bring the PlayStation experience on all the PlayStation certified phones. You can purchase and play games on your Android device.
Apart from being a release which Sony promised for its new Xperia phones, the PlayStation app is definitely an interesting feature which many Xperia users were waiting for. Currently, the app supports all of Sony’s PlayStation certified devices including the Xperia Play and the new Xperia S/ Xperia T. It also supports HTC One X and HTC One X+. However, a PlayStation certified phone doesn’t have any noticeable differences when compared to normal Android smartphones and you can now install the PlayStation mobile app on any decent Android smartphone.
Firstly, you need to have a rooted phone or else you won’t be able to install the app on your smartphone. You can download the PlayStation app apk file using this link or you can go to Sony’s official website and download the apk file there. If you directly install and run the app on a device which is not PlayStation certified, then the app will give you this error.
In order to make your phone “look” PlayStation certified, you need to download a flashable zip package using this link. Once downloaded, you can use CWM recovery to flash the zip file on your Android device. It will copy all the necessary files including the PlayStation License files onto your phone.
Once you flash the zip file, you can install the PlayStation mobile apk file. You need to have a PlayStation network account in order to use the PlayStation mobile app. You can create an account using this link. The app is tested and its working on Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3 and it should work on most high-end Android smartphones.
