Feature phones are disappearing quickly and some manufacturers like Sony are completely abandoning feature phone business. But Nokia today announced three touch enabled phones to its Asha series of feature phones. Asha series was announced back in October 2011 and includes 10 models in its lineup.
Today announced devices include Nokia Asha 305, Asha 306 and Asha 311. All these phones come with 3-inch screens and targeted towards young consumers.
Nokia Asha 311 is the powerful of the lot announced today, it is powered by a 1GHz processor, which is pretty good for a feature phone. It has a 3-inch scratch resistant capacitive touch screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera and comes with pre-installed Angry Birds game with 15 levels. This phone has HSPA modem for 3G connectivity and comes with Nokia Maps pre installed.
Nokia Asha 305 and Ahsa 306 feature 3.0 inch WQVGA resistive touch screen, 2megapixel camera, music player and FM Radio, GPRS Edge connectivity support and Nokia Maps. In addition Asha 305 is a dual-SIM phone and Asha 306 has Wi-Fi capabilities.
All these phones come with Asha Touch UI. These phones have Nokia Browser 2.0 which according to Nokia will reduce the data consumption by upto 90%. Nokia is also throwing some goodies to the users to make these phones attractive. All users of these phones can download 40 EA games free and keep them for life. The titles of the games include TetrisR, BejeweledR , Need for Speed The Run and EA SPORTS FIFA 12.
Asha 305 will be available in the second quarter of this year while Asha 306 and Asha 311 will come in the third quarter of this year. Nokia Asha 305 should cost $85, Asha 306 $93 and Asha 311 $121 in the market when they are released.
