Nokia Asha 501, the affordable dual SIM smartphone launched in India for Rs.5199. Pre-orders for this phone started last week and as expected it is now available from Nokia official store as well as from other online retailers including Flipkart. These new Asha series of smartphones are aimed at budget conscious customers and for those who are migrating from feature phones for the first time.
Nokia Asha 501 resembles the Lumia design principles and has lot of similarity to the Lumia 620. It is available on red, green, black, white, yellow and cyan colors.
It comes with the new Asha platform which borrows a lot from MeeGo platform of Nokia, Harmattan UI seen on the Nokia N9. The front of the device houses a 3-inch LCD screen with QVGA resolution and a single button on the bottom. While the back has the 3.2MP camera and a button to pop out the exchangeable shells. You can buy these shells to frequently change the look of the device.
It comes with a 1200mAh battery which according to Nokia will provide 624 hours of standby time and 17 hours of talk time. The device weighs just 91gms and has a thickness of 12.1mm. Other specifications include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro SD card slot, 2G but no 3G in this device. Nokia is bundling a 4GB micro SD card with the device.
