The global rollout of the budget smartphone Asha 501 started this week starting with Thailand and Pakistan, and will follow in India according to Nokia. As we just posted Asha 501 is up for pre-order in India at Rs. 5,199 from Nokia official store, It will be available in India from next week onwards according to Nokia. Nokia first unveiled this smartphone in New Delhi, last month at an event.
The new Asha series of smartphones will cater to the budget concise customers and serve in the lower end of the spectrum for Nokia while Lumia range is sitting at the higher end. The design of the new Asha 501 announced is inspired from the Lumia design and looks similar to a mini Lumia. It is a dual SIM smartphone running on the Asha platform. It features a “Fastlane” feature that allows you to access all your messages, social network updates and more in a swipe interface.
Asha 501 is available in six different colors: Cyan, Red, Green, Yellow, Black and White. It will support interchangeable shells, you can buy the shells for 8.9 Euros and swap it as you like. Headset will also come in two different colors, Red and Black.
Next week this smartphone will be available in India and will follow onto Europe, Middle East and Africa. It may not come to the US, but it will be available in Latin America starting with Brazil.
The phone is available in six striking colors: cyan, bright red, yellow, bright green, black and white. It retails for approximately $99 before local taxes and subsidies.
