Nokia’s upcoming budget smartphone Lumia 525 is now official. After much speculation the successor to the Lumia 520 is listed on Nokia’s global site. The phone builds on the hugely popular Lumia 520, it comes with 1GB of RAM instead of 512MB present in its earlier version.
The Lumia 525 features a 4-inch IPS LCD screen with WVGA resolution (800 x 480). The pixel density of the screen is just 235ppi, that is ok for a phone that is at the lower end of the spectrum. It comes with Super Sensitive Touch from Nokia. It is powered by a dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor along with 1GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. It also features a micro SD card slot for memory expansion upto 64GB. 1GB of RAM is a nice upgrade as many Windows Phone games require minimum 1GB RAM.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB, GPS. It runs on Windows Phone 8 platform with Lumia Black UI and includes Nokia HERE maps apps. It packs a 1430 mAh battery under the hood for providing juice to the phone. On the imaging front it comes with a 5MP rear camera with Autofocus, there is no Flash in the device like its predecessor. It does includes Nokia imaging apps like Nokia Smart Camera, Cinemagraph, Photo Beamer, and Panorama.
It will be available in Black, White, Orange, and Yellow colors. The phone will be available in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa to start with, but a release date is not yet confirmed. But Engadget reports that the phone has been announced in China and shipping in December with a price tag of 1099 Yuan ($180 or Rs. 11,200), the pricing is inline with the earlier lumia 520. Nokia Lumia 525 price in India and release date in India is not yet known, but we will update when we have more information. We are expecting Nokia will announce this phone next month as India is a key market for this phone, and earlier Lumia 520 is a huge success here.
Difference between Lumia 520 and Lumia 525: Apart from RAM there not much difference between the two phones. Lumia 525 comes with Bluetooth 4.0+ LE, but Lumia 520 may also get this feature in a software update.
