The User Access Control (UAC) in Vista is designed with good intentions to enhance security of the system, but often it is irritating, i disabled it altogether. Microsoft will introduce a better UAC in Windows 7, if you can’t wait until Windows 7 is released Norton has a solution to it.
Norton Labs released a better alternative tool to Windows Vista User Access Control. Norton UAC tool replaces Windows Vista UAC, it makes your system secure and don’t annoy much like default UAC. This tool “offers a “Do not ask me again” option on each prompt making it very easy for the user to squelch individual prompts without fully disabling UAC. Further, the Norton Labs’ UAC replacement displays the prompts in a slightly different way from how Microsoft chose to do it. We feel that our prompts provide a much clearer view of the ratings for the prompting application” says Norton UAC faq.
Norton will collect meta information about the causes of the UAC prompts, and why and sends it to norton servers. This data is used to build a white list that can be shipped with UAC replacement and LiveUpdated.
If you need better UAC and feel the default UAC is annoying go for this tool. It is a free download from Norton labs and remember it is a beta software. [Download Norton UAC tool, Via LifeHacker]
