Samsung Galaxy Note 3 comes with 3GB of RAM, and if you think that is more than enough for a mobile phone then Samsung has a surprise for you. Samsung has announced a 8GB LPDDR4 RAM module which will improve the performance and power efficiency. Next year smartphones and tablets will carry this RAM with 4GB memory and Samsung claims that it provides 50 percent higher performance than the faster LPDDR3 available today and offers 40 percent power savings.
The LPDDR4 stands for “Low power double data rate 4”, this is the latest DRAM in the market. It offers highest level of density, performance and energy efficiency for mobile memory apps, this paves the way for more responsive mobile apps, high resolution displays while maximizing the battery life. Next year we are going to see those QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display from major manufacturers flagship smartphones.
The 8Gb LPDDR4 is fabricated on 20nm class process tech, and offers 1GB on a single die, the four-die mobile memory used currently allow upto 4GB of RAM on the same physical footprint. Samsung is targeting premium mobile market with this chip.
