Samsung has started mass production of Galaxy Note 3 Lite model according to Korean site ETNews. Samsung is expected to launch Lite version of its flagship Galaxy Note 3 released this September. We heard about the Galaxy Note 3 Lite few days back, it is slightly trimmed down version of the Note 3 for the budget conscious customers.
Earlier there were rumors that Samsung might be using LCD screens in Note series to cut costs, but turns out that those LCD screens are used in Note 3 Lite device. Samsung first developed this device as a mini device like the Galaxy S4 mini and others, but later decided to use the same screen for the same stylus experience as its premium sibling.
According to the report the Galaxy Note 3 Lite will come with 5.68-inch LCD display instead of the Super AMOLED display. It might retain the Snapdragon 800 processor and 3GB of RAM though. The main camera is downgraded from 13MP on Note 3 to 8MP in Note 3 lite among other things.
Samsung will manufacture 500,000 Galaxy Note 3 Lite devices in January and in February it will produce 1,500,000 devices. Overall the Lite devices are expected to be around 30% sales volume of the Note 3 devices. There is a concern that these lite devices might cannibalize the sales of premium Note 3. But with the kind of specs where processor and RAM remains same, we expect the lite pricing to be a little lower than Note 3 but not half the price for sure. Any Way MWC is couple of months away and so we will know more about the device then.
