Samsung’s Tizen smartphone is not coming any time soon, atleast until January 2014. It is supposed to be released by now, but it got delayed due to various issues including appstore issues. That doesn’t mean that Samsung is not testing phones with Tizen OS, a new listing on BrowserMark 2 appeared as Samsung GT-I8800 running Tizen OS under the hood.
This is earlier known as Redwood or Z9005, the device earlier also appeared in benchmark results and it was distributed to developers of Tizen. This phone comes with Exynos 4412 Cortex A9 processor (1.4GHz Quad-Core Processor) along with Mali 400 GPU, that is the same processor that is there in the Galaxy SIII launched in 2012. The benchmark results doesn’t give other specifications, except the display resolution, it has a HD (1280 x 720) resolution.
Samsung has not said anything about the phone, or does it say about the release of the first Tizen smartphone. But according to reports it might be released during CES 2014 or later. Samsung already released NX300M Camera in South Korea, it is the first Tizen device to be released to the market.
On a related note Tizen 3.0 ix expected in late 2014 which brings some new features including support for 64-bit architecture, support for Intel and ARM chips, a 3D rendering engine among other things.
