Samsung has finally unveiled the much talked curved OLED display smartphone named Galaxy Round. This phone is slightly curved and not Round as the name suggests. The Galaxy Round will be available from October 10th onwards on South Korea’s SK Telecom. This phone has a vertical curve that gives it a concave shape from the front of the device. The back of the device comes with stitched leather texture similar to the Galaxy Note 3.
Samsung Galaxy Round comes with a 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED curved display. Apart from the unique factor of the curved display it also packs impressive hardware under the hood. It is just 7.9mm thick and 154gms in weight. It is powered by a 2.3GHz quad core processor, along with 3GB of RAM like the Galaxy Note 3. It packs a 2800mAh battery under the hood to provide juice.
Samsung has added some new features in the device, for example when the display of the phone is switched off and it is on flat surface you can touch the device and roll it a bit then it reveals time, missed calls, notifications etc., see the video embedded below. It also added music controls to the side of the device, when the display is turned off users can short press either left or right of the device to change tracks.
Galaxy Round will be released tomorrow in Korea with a retail price tag of 1.09 million Won or ($1013 or ?58000). It will be available in Luxury Brown color when released. International availability and pricing of the device is not clear at this moment.
