Samsung announced that its messaging service now reaches to 100 million users worldwide. Launched first in 2011 ChatON is a cross platform application and comes pre-installed on Samsung smartphones and feature phones. ChatON is available for Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and Samsung own Bada operating system.
Samsung says that the service hot 50 million mark in May this year and after that in just four months the user numbers doubled to 100 million. According to Samsung it is growing steadily in Us, China and India, and is becoming popular in Europe and Middle East. ChatON application is available in 63 different languages worldwide and in India it already supports 10 regional languages and by the end of the year Samsung wants to extend the support to 13 regional languages.
ChatON is competing with at least a dozen messaging services including the popular WhatsApp application currently the one that is leading the pack. In contrast WhatsApp has recently announced that they now have 300million users on the network. BlackBerry is also introducing its BBM client once an exclusive to BlackBerry on Android and iOS. Its plans were halted temporarily due to an official Android apk leak, BlackBerry has not announced when the rollout will start again.
