Shipyaari is a logistics aggregator and a product of AVN Business Solutions. It is a logistics service provider that aims to take the pain of logistics for small ecommerce businesses. If you are starting an ecommerce business it is hard for you to negotiate with the couriers to handle your shipments, because most of the companies need minimum number of shipments to work with. In this situation logistics aggregators will come for your rescue, there are some companies operating in India including Shipyaari and Kartrocket.
I did some research on Quora and some other places and decided to take Shipyaari services recently. The on- boarding process is simple and their executives are helpful, there is no surprise here because that is how every business works.
After enrolling the real picture came to light. The flow goes like this, you book a shipment pickup and the logistics partner will come and pickup on the same day or the next day depending on the time you booked. That is how it works and it should work with any logistics service provider.
With Shipyaari i have booked a pickup on 18th June and today is 23rd June, nobody came to pick up the parcel. I have raised support tickets in the mean time. One ticket is closed with out any reply. The customer care representative told me that they have arranged a pickup so they closed it, with out updating the ticket. Arranging a pickup here means pinging their logistics partner and that’s it, no follow up with me.
I have messaged them on their support site yesterday, they said they are arranging the pickup right away and a day has passed nothing happened. The logistic partner here is DotZot (DTDC), I called their local office and informed about pickups, they are clueless and they said they have no record of these and if they get any request they will do the pickup, they took the tracking numbers on phone but nothing happened.
I called the Shipyaari customer care today, this time they are saying pickup was attempted but there is no package. Now it is clear that either DotZot people or the Shipyaari team is lying, because nobody came to our premises or called to collect the packages. Now the customer support rep says that she will arrange the pickup right away. No idea when it will be arranged.
A shipment waiting for 6 days to get picked up is ridiculous in e-commerce. Usually e-commerce shipments should get delivered in 4-5 days and here we are waiting for a week for just to get picked up.
This is serious issue and Shipyaari or any other aggregator has to have a process in place to coordinate with logistics partners as well as clients. When some one books a pickup just ping your logistics partner and sit back doesn’t work always, if there are some practical issues as in my case everyone suffers.
I have booked just 3 pickups till now and all are in pending pickup stage, this is not the service i have expected from these people. We are paying a premium for the service offered and the behavior of these people is like they are doing us a favor, with this attitude you won’t go far.
If you are looking for a logistics aggregator then my advice is to stay away from Shipyaari. There are other alternatives like Kartrocket but their reputation is also not good, check Quora and other sites before signing up for these kind of services. Ultimately your reputation that is at stake and not the aggregator, because ecommerce customers don’t care about who shipped the product. It is best to negotiate with any courier company if you have the volume.
