Skype updated its Android app bumping the app version to 4.0 and this is a major update that brings an overhaul user interface. The new interface is inline with the Windows Phone app user interface, Skype didn’t acknowledge this but they say that they re-imagined Skype when they launched Windows Phone app last year. Skype the design focus is to put conversations first and make your interactions on Skype easier.
The updated Android app speaks the modern or Metro design language. Skype says they redesigned the app completely to make it faster and easier. The new design makes it easy to send quick messages, and everything feels like a tap way be it voice calls, or video calls, or messages.
What’s new in this version:
- Everything: No, seriously. Quite literally everything. We took a closer look at all the ways people use Skype, and used that insight to lovingly redesign and rebuild a shiny new Skype for Android.
Got an Android tablet? Don’t worry if you don’t see any changes, yours are just around the corner. - Free and unlimited video messaging: Record life’s everyday moments and share them with the people who matter most, with free and unlimited video messaging over Skype.
Skype notes that this is just the beginning and they have planned more updates in the coming months to make it more reliable, reachable and mobile-friendly. Skype has announced that they reached a new milestone, they hit 100 million downloads recently.
