Sony started rolling out Android Ice cream sandwich update to it’s Android smartphone range. Sony announced on user forums that their 2011 smartphones will receive Android 4.0.4 update. Xperia Arc S, Neo V and Ray phones already getting the latest Android update.
The phones in the update list announced today includes Xperia Ray, Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V, Xperia Neo, Xperia Arc, Xperia Pro, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Mini, Xperia Active, and Live with Walkman. What is missing from the list of Xperia Play, Sony won’t be updating this phone to Android ICS. Sony announced few days back that a “consistent and stable experience particularly with gaming cannot be guaranteed for this smartphone on Ice Cream Sadnwich”, so this phone left out from the update list.
Sony has posted links to check whether these phones got the update or not. The links contain SI (Sales Item) numbers for phones that got ICS update, SI numbers can be found on the back side of the battery on your phone. Sony says the updates will depend on country and regions, so check these links to see whether you got the update or not. Sony will add SI numbers after an update is rolled out for that phone.
For updating to Android 4.0.4 you need PC Companion software for PCs and Bridge for Mac. Make sure your PC Companion software is upto date to receive the update.
