Sony has announced QX series lens-style camera at IFA Berlin today along with the Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone. These QX series of camera have everything a camera need in them except the viewfinder. You can attach these lens-style camera as Sony calls it to your smartphone and instantly turn into a point and shoot camera.
The QX lens cameras announced today include DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100, the latter is the expensive one carrying a price tag of $499 and the former at $250 is more affordable and perfect for people who use mobile phones to capture photos often.
These lenses come with shutter button, their own battery, memory stick etc., they only lack a viewfinder, you can use your smartphone as a viewfinder and also to control the camera. The cameras can also be used as standalone cameras, but you won’t see anything. Both these camera pair with your smartphone via NFC and connect with Wi-Fi, the image info and other details are transmitted through Wi-Fi. You don’t even have to attach then top take a pic, great for slefies.
Both the camera will be available by the end of this month. They will carry all the Sony camera apps and will be compatible with Sony smartphones including the today announced Xperia Z1. DSC-QX10 comes with a 18.2MP Exmor R Sensor with a Sony G Lens, it also has a 10X digital zoom. DSC-QX10 comes with Exmor CMOS Sensor with 20.2MP, Carl Zeiss Optics, the QX10 gets the Sony G Lens. Both these cameras include BIONZ image processing technology.
