TweetDesk for AIR, TweetDeck for Android and TweetDeck for iPhone will shut down on May 7th. Twitter has originally announced in March that it will kill these apps some time in May. That time has finally came and these TweetDeck apps will be killed and the apps will also be pulled from the respective app stores.
Twitter acquired TweetDeck in 2011. TweetDeck team already announced this in March this year and today they gave a date for shut down. On the blogpost, the team says along with closing the doors they will also remove the support for Facebook functionality. TweetDeck for Web and Chrome versions will continue to function and will see more upto date functionality pushed to them along with the desktop apps.
The TweetDeck team says users are using web versions of the app more and on Mobile devices they are using Twitter client, so they are prioritizing Twitter for Mobile and TweetDeck for Web.
