Twitter redesigned it’s home page, not so surprisingly it is promoting twitter search. The newly redesinged home page is not visible if you are logged in, logout and see for yourself. Twitter says the new home page is for folks who are new to twitter.com.
The earlier home page boasted a big login section and some useless things, but the new one highlight the search. This is in a way to attract new users who are confused about what is twitter, they can now see those some times not so useful twitter trends.
The new home page does look like a real-time search engine home page with a big search box at the center and the trending topics below that. The topics are arranged by minute, day and week to highlight the real-time search aspect.
Clicking on a trending topic will show the tweets related to the topic, like twitter search the results will be refreshed automatically. Now there is a blurb on top of the results that explains why that topic is trending. The search results pages also show some search parameters that are not widely reported like you can use “–word†to filter tweets containing that particular word.
For logged in users nothing has changed so far, perhaps a big search box on top of the page may be coming.:)
